Brand named after its founder, Gökçe Çalışkan puts its stamp on modern fashion, drawing inspiration from its native Turkey as well as Paris and Viking culture.

Tell stories

It’s a brand like few others. With a very assertive style, the pieces in the new Gökçe Çalışkan collection are innovative in their cut, their shape and their use of textures. “What inspires me is the change in color of the sky at sunset and sunrise, it’s the way the world changes with the changing seasons, it’s nature in its entirety. I therefore adopt a philosophy that pays great attention to details, to imagine timeless designs, which mix bold lines with classic style,” explains Gökçe Çalışkan, founder of her eponymous brand. By bridging the past and the present, the artistic director of the young brand seeks to explore and tell stories, drawing inspiration from Viking culture, which can be found in the set of pieces from the first Gökçe Çalışkan collection: “Broken Point”.

Personalize your clothing

If it includes the essentials of a women's wardrobe, it places emphasis on coats, jackets and trench coats to bring its vision of elegance, innovation and character. “This collection is dedicated to those who want to feel fearless and strong. I have a weakness for the Scandinavian region, its culture and its history and I used the names of characters from television series or films to name the pieces in the collection. I imagined each of them as a character, because each item of clothing has a soul. Since it is a brand inspired by nature and basically wants to give a strong character to an outfit, I compared this collection of the brand to intrepid vikings fighting to survive in their purest form” , adds Gökçe. Indeed, the Viking inspiration can be felt, particularly in jackets and coats, but these pieces can be worn both during the day and during a particular event.

Creating a bridge between Istanbul and Paris

The designer is inspired by nature, ancestral Scandinavian culture but also by her personal experience. Originally from Türkiye, she lived in Paris for three years for her studies. It is in this city that has become so important to her that Gökçe will reconnect with her passion for fashion and beauty in its entirety. Back in her native country, she studied design and creation and drew the first outlines of her brand, before launching its production at the start of the year, in the family workshop, in the northwest of Turkey. . So, without ever denying its strong identity and its inspirations, Gökçe Çalışkan will develop new collections, which aim to create a bridge between Istanbul and Paris.
